Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

When the rear compartment button on the RKE transmitter is pressed, the remote control door lock receiver sends a ground through circuit 253 to the rear compartment lid release relay. The R/CMPT REL Fuse in the underhood accessory wiring junction block supplies voltage to the transaxle range switch through circuit 840. When the transaxle range switch is in PARK position voltage travels through circuit 275 to the underhood, accessory wiring junction block and then to the rear compartment lid release relay. When voltage is supplied and ground is seen by the rear compartment lid release relay, the solenoid within the rear compartment lid release relay is energized. This in turn pulls the switch within the rear compartment lid release relay sending voltage through circuit 56 to the rear compartment lid lock release actuator. The rear compartment lid lock release actuator picks up a ground through circuit 350. When the rear compartment lid lock release actuator sees voltage through circuit 56, the actuator is energized and the rear compartment lid releases. When the vehicle is in a non-PARK position, there is no voltage seen in circuit 56 to the actuator when the rear compartment button on the RKE transmitter is pressed. The rear compartment cannot be released unless voltage is seen by the actuator through circuit 56.
