Shift Control Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Console Replacement-Front Floor in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
2. Remove the console wiring harness.





3. Remove the console shift control wiring harness, right side.





4. Remove the console shift control wiring harness, left side.
5. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (New Cable Installation Only).





6. Remove the console shift control nuts.
7. Remove the console shift control.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the console shift control.
2. Install the console shift control nuts.
^ Tighten the console shift control nuts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Place the shift control lever in NEUTRAL.

IMPORTANT: Install the shift control in the NEUTRAL position. Use the lever on the passenger side of the shifter to depress and move out of the PARK position if the console shift control is inadvertently moved to the PARK position. Remove the shift lever release cover (1) to access the lever if the console is installed and the console shift control is inadvertently moved to the PARK position.

4. Install the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (New Cable Installation Only).





5. Install the console shift control wiring harness, right side.





6. Install the console shift control wiring harness, left side.





7. Install the console wiring harness.
8. Install the front floor console. Refer to Console Replacement-Front Floor in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
9. Adjust the transaxle side automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (New Cable Installation Only).
