Hinge Pillar Tie Bar (Cross Car Beam) Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the instrument panel (IP) trim pad.
2. Remove the passenger side SIR inflator module.
3. Remove the brake pedal bracket and reinforcement.
4. Remove the air distribution ducts.
5. Remove the retaining bolts and position the relay bracket aside.
6. Remove the retaining bolts and position the Body Control Module (BCM) bracket aside.
7. Release harness retaining clips and position the instrument panel wiring harness out the way.
8. Remove the retaining bolts from the HVAC center module support bracket.
9. Remove the HVAC module center support bracket.
10. Remove the retaining bolts from the HVAC module upper support brackets.
11. Remove the left cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar bolts.
12. Remove the right cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar bolts.
13. Remove the cross vehicle beam from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the cross vehicle beam to the vehicle.
2. Install the right cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar bolts finger tight.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
3. Install the left cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar bolts finger tight.
Tighten
Tighten the left and right cross vehicle beam bolts to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).
4. Install the retaining bolts to the HVAC module upper support brackets.
Tighten
Tighten the HVAC module upper support bracket bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
5. Install the HVAC module center support bracket.
6. Install the retaining bolts to the HVAC module center support bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the HVAC module center support bracket bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
7. Position the instrument panel wiring harness and install harness retaining clips.
8. Install the BCM bracket and the retaining bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the BCM bracket bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
9. Install the relay bracket and the retaining bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the relay bracket bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
10. Install the air distribution ducts.
11. Install the brake pedal bracket and reinforcement.
12. Install the passenger side SIR inflator module.
13. Install the instrument panel (IP) trim pad.
