C1282
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
DTC C1282 allows the EBCM/EBTCM to inspect for a calibration malfunction by comparing the calibration value to a known value (checksum). The EEPROM stores the checksum.
DTC C1282 also acts as a security measure to prevent improper use of calibrations or changes to these calibrations. Improper calibrations may alter the designed function of ABS/ETS/TCS.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
DTC C1282 can set any time after the ignition is turned to the Run position.
A malfunction exists if the program identifier is incorrect or the memory checksum is incorrect.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ A malfunction Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) stores.
^ The ABS/ETS/TCS disables.
The amber ABS/ETS/TCS warning indicator(s) turn on.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists and the Scan Tool Clear DTCs function is used.
^ 100 drive cycles pass with no DTC(s) detected.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
A bad cell in the EEPROM that is sensitive to temperature changes may cause an intermittent DTC C1282. If DTC C1282 sets more than once, but is intermittent, replace EBCM/EBTCM.
Use the enhanced diagnostic function of the Scan Tool in order to measure the frequency of the malfunction. Refer to the Scan Tool manual for the procedure.
