C1315
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
DTC C1315 identifies a condition in which the EBCM/EBTCM uses a Brake Thermal Model (BTM) to determine if the front brake pads have exceeded their specified thermal model limit. When the front brake pads exceed their thermal model limit, the TCS system disables the brake interventions portion of TCS. This will leave only the engine torque reduction for the amount of time for the front brake pads to cool below the specified thermal model limit at which time full TCS will be available.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
DTC C1315 can set anytime after the EBCM/EBTCM commands the Electrical Brake Control Relay on. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will set when the front brake pads have exceeded their specified thermal model limit.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ A malfunction Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) stores.
^ TCS is partially disabled.
^ The amber TCS warning indicator is turned on.
The brake intervention portion of the TCS is disabled leaving only the engine torque reduction. When the front brake pads cool below their re-entry limit temperature, the amber TCS warning indicator will turn off and full TCS will be available. Note that even though the TCS system is available, DTC C1315 will still be current for the rest of the current drive cycle for service reasons.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists and the Scan Tool Clear DTCs function is used.
^ 100 drive cycles pass with no DTC(s) detected.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
The temperature of the front brake pads can be read in the TCS data list on the scan tool.
