Engine Front Cover Clean and Inspect

1. Remove the crankshaft position sensor bolts from the [1][2]engine front cover.
2. Remove the crankshaft position sensor.





3. Clean the [1][2]engine front cover with cleaning solvent.
4. Inspect the [1][2]engine front cover sealing surfaces for damage.
5. Inspect the [1][2]engine front cover threaded holes.
6. Repair or replace the [1][2]engine front cover as necessary.





7. Install the crankshaft position sensor to the [1][2]engine front cover.
8. Install the crankshaft position sensor bolts. Apply thread lock GM P/N 12345382 or the equivalent to the threads.
^ Tighten the crankshaft position sensor bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
