General Information
The UTD system (when armed) is designed to deter vehicle theft by pulsing the horns and exterior lights when an unauthorized vehicle entry is detected. An unauthorized entry can be any of the following:
^ Forced entry into the rear compartment.
^ When any door is opened.
The Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module controls all alarm functions. When the RFA has detected an unauthorized entry, it applies ground to the horn relay and Lamp Control Module (LCM) once per second for approximately 3 minutes, or until a valid input to disarm is received. The RFA has five basic modes (disarmed, standby, delayed, armed, and alarm) for operating the UTD system. The different modes are described below.
1. Disarmed mode, the UTD system is in this mode until the RFA detects all of the following conditions:
^ The ignition switch turned to the LOCK position.
^ Any door open.
^ Doors locked by either the power door lock switch or the keyless entry transmitter (key fob). (If all of the doors are closed and the key fob is used to lock the doors, the RFA enters the delayed mode, step 3).
2. Standby mode, the UTD system enters this mode when the above conditions are detected. The RFA grounds circuit 264 (DK GRN) once per second, thus flashing the SECURITY indicator. When the RFA detects that all the doors are closed, the next mode is entered (step 3).
3. Delayed mode, the UTD system enters this mode for 30 seconds The RFA grounds circuit 264 (DK GRN) continuously, thus illuminating the SECURITY indicator. After 30 seconds, the next mode is entered (step 4).
4. Armed mode, the UTD system is now monitoring all inputs for an unauthorized forced entry. The RFA stops grounding circuit 264 (DK GRN), thus the SECURITY indicator turns off. If a forced entry is detected the next mode is entered (step 5).
5. Alarm mode, the UTD system has detected a forced entry while in the armed mode. The RFA grounds the horn relay (CKT 28, BLK/WHT) and the exterior lights control enable input (CKT 624, BLK/WHT) to the Lamp Control Module (LCM), once per second for approximately 3 minutes or until a valid input to disarm is received. After 3 minutes the UTD returns the armed mode (step 4).
If a door unlock request is received by the RFA during the arming sequence, the UTD system does not enter the armed mode. The RFA stops grounding circuit 264 (DK GRN), thus the SECURITY indicator turns off. At this point to enter the armed mode, the arming sequence must be repeated.
Important
The UTD system can enter the armed mode with the windows open.
