Component Tests and General Diagnostics
PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS1. Distinguish Keyless Entry System operation from the operation of the controlled circuits by checking each of the following systems individually:
^ Retained accessory power. (After ignition is turned OFF, does the radio work until a door is opened or 10 minutes elapses?) Refer to Retained Accessory Power.
^ Power door locks from all door lock switches. Refer to Power Door Locks. Power Locks
^ Universal theft deterrent system, if equipped. Refer to Theft Deterrent System.
^ Interior lamps; open any door to illuminate. Refer to Interior Lights.
^ Rear compartment lid release from rear compartment lid release switch. Refer to Release System.
2. Check IP1 Fuse in the RH Rear Junction Block. If it is open, check for short to ground in CKT 40 (ORN).
3. Check for a poor connection at ground 1302.
4. Before component replacement, check for poor terminal contact at component and harness connectors.
5. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
6. Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. Refer to Troubleshooting Procedures. Diagnostic Aids
