Troubleshooting Hints
PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS1. Check RH rear junction block I/P 1 Fuse by visual inspection.
2. Check RH rear junction block PWR ST Circuit Breaker by visual inspection.
3. Check IP fuse block CHIME Fuse (Oldsmobile), IGN 1 Fuse (Buick) by visual inspection.
4. Check IP fuse block TMNSS Fuse by visual inspection.
5. Make sure that G202 is clean and tight.
6. (Oldsmobile) If the I/P 1 Fuse is blown, there is still an alternate power feed from the HZRD/STOP Fuse to the LH Seat/Lock Switch, the LH Seat Switch, and the Power Mirror Switch. Therefore, these components may not be completely shut down.
7. (Memory Mirrors) If the Parallel Parking Mode is inoperative and the Memory Recall operates OK with the gear selector out of PARK, check for an open or short to ground in CKT 541 (BRN). If OK, replace the park/neutral position switch.
8. (Memory Mirrors) If the memory seat/mirror module does not enter the Diagnostic Modes:
^ Check for proper grounding with the memory scat diagnostic connector.
^ Check for an open in CKT 571 (YEL/BLK).
^ Check for proper terminal contact at memory seat/mirror module connector C1 terminal D12.
^ If all OK, replace the memory seat/mirror module.
9. Before component replacement, check for poor connections at related component and in-line harness connector terminal connections.
10. Check for broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause a system malfunction but prove GOOD in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
11. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
