Troubleshooting Hints - Exterior Lights

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. Check the RH rear junction block PARK LP Fuse by visual inspection. If open, check for a short to ground in CKT 240 (ORN/BLK).
2. Check the RH rear junction block HAZD/STOP LPS Fuse by visual inspection. If open, check for a short to ground in CKT 140 (ORN).
3. Check the IP fuse block TURN LAMPS Fuse by visual inspection. If open, check for a short to ground in CKT 539 (PNK).
4. Check the IP fuse block, PERIM LP by visual inspection. If open, check for a short to ground in CKT 1654 (TAN).
5. Check the IP fuse block RH EXT LPS Fuse by visual inspection. If open, check for a short to ground in CKT 309 (BRN/WHT).
6. Check the IP fuse block LH EXT LPS Fuse by visual inspection. If open, check for a short to ground in CKT 709 (PPL).
7. If turn lights stay on (do not flash) in both LH TURN and RH TURN, replace the turn signal flasher.
8. If hazard lights stay on (do not flash) in HAZARD, replace the hazard flasher.
9. If only one light does not operate, check the bulb, the connections, and the related wiring (see schematic).
10. Check that grounds G103, G104, G202, G302 and G401 are clean and tight.
11. Before component replacement, check for poor connections at related component and in-line harness connector cavity connections.
12. Check for broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause a system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
13. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
