Cruise Control Release Switch and Stoplamp Switch Adjustment
Cruise Control And Stoplamp Switch Installation:
The release switch assembly and the stoplamp switch assembly cannot be adjusted until after the brake booster pushrod is assembled to brake pedal assembly. The cruise control release switch and the stoplamp switch are adjusted together. Incorrect adjustment could cause the cruise control system to not work properly.
Important
^ Do not depress the brake pedal during adjustment procedure.
Adjust
1. Insert release switch into retainer until fully seated against brake pedal arm.
2. Twist the switch to lock into position.
Measure
^ Measure the distance from the end of the barrel on the switch to the pedal arm, assure clearance is 1.5 mm to 1.7 mm (1/16 inch). If measurement is not correct, perform steps 1 and 2 again.
^ Release switch assembly and stoplamp switch assembly contacts must be closed at 3.5 to 12.5 mm (1/8 to 1/2 inch) brake pedal assembly travel, measured at the centerline of the brake pedal assembly pad. Nominal actuation of the stoplamp switch assembly contacts is about 4.5 mm (3/16 inch).
