Radio Clock Gains Time in Excess of One Minute a Month (Calibrate Clock Using Tech 2)
Models:
1998 Buick Century, LeSabre, Park Avenue, Regal, Riviera
This bulletin is being revised to correct the labor operation time. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 84-96-02 (Section 9 - Accessories).
Condition
Some customers may comment the radio clock gains an excessive amount of time.
Cause
Early production radios were manufactured with the wrong calibration for the clock.
Correction
Calibrate the clock with the Tech 2. If condition persists after recalibration, send radio to authorized Service Center.
Important:
If vehicle is equipped with the Onstar, you must first disconnect the VIU before performing the following procedure. Failure to disconnect the VIU will result in wrong calibration of the radio.
Confirm the Tech 2 is updated with disk # 15, 1998 or later. Using the Tech 2 tool, choose the following:
1. Diagnostics
2. MY
3. Passenger Car
4. Body
5. Body Style (C,H,G,W)
6. Buick
7. Entertainment & Comfort Bus
8. Special Functions
9. Radio Time Of Day Fix
At this point, the Tech 2 will automatically calibrate the clock.
