Wiper Arm: Service and Repair

Description:





REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Turn ignition switch to "ACCY" position.
2. Set wiper switch to "PULSE" position.
3. Turn ignition switch off when wiper arms are at bottom of innerwipe and not moving.
4. Wiper arm assembly (14) from transmission drive shaft (D).
A. Lift wiper blade assembly (15) up from the windshield.
B. Pull out retaining latch (E) with a screwdriver. Lower wiper blade assembly (15).
C. Pull wiper arm assembly (14) off transmission drive shaft (D).
5. Wiper blade assembly (15) from wiper arm assembly (14). Refer to "Wiper Blade Assembly Replacement." Wiper Blade

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Wiper blade assembly (15) on wiper arm assembly (14). Refer to "Wiper Blade Assembly Replacement."
2. Return transmission assembly to park position.
A. Turn ignition to "ACCY" position.
B. Turn wiper/washer switch on and then off.
C. Turn ignition switch to "OFF" position.

IMPORTANT
- Wiper arm assembly is marked "R" or "L" for right or left side of vehicle.

3. Wiper arm assembly (14) on transmission drive shaft (D).
A. Position wiper arm assembly (14) slightly below the stop surface of the park ramp (17).
B. Push wiper arm assembly (14) down onto transmission drive shaft (D) completely.
C. Lift wiper blade assembly (15) up to relieve pressure on retaining latch (E) and push retaining latch (E) in.
4. Lift wiper arm assembly (14) up onto park ramp (17).
5. Operate wipers and check for proper operation.

INSPECT

Description:




- Wipe pattern. Dimension G should be 15-40 mm (5/8 - 1-5/8 in.) from top of driver's side wiper blade assembly on outerwipe to edge of glass.
- Park position. Both wiper arms must he snug against park ramps.
- Correct park position and outerwipe dimension are determined with the wipers operating at low speed on wet glass.
