Inner Tie Rod

REMOVAL
Remove or disconnect the following:
1. Lock plate (38) from inner tie rod bolts (37) and discard lock plate.
2. Inner tie rod bolts (37)
^ Only if both tie rods, bolt support plate (36) and inner tie rod assemblies (26) and (41) are removed.
^ If only one inner tie rod is removed, slide inner tie rod assembly from between bolt support plate (36) and center housing cover washer (23).
^ When both inner tie rods are to be removed, remove the first inner tie rod and reinstall inner tie rod bolt (37) to keep parts inside the rack and pinion boot in proper alignment.

INSTALLATION
Install or connect the following:
1. Center housing cover washer (23) fitted into rack and pinion boot (22).
2. Inner tie rod bolts (37)
^ Through holes in bolt support plate (36) and inner pivot bushing (35) which is part of the inner tie rod (26) or (41).
^ Center housing cover washer (23) captured in recesses in rack and pinion boot (22).
^ Insert into rack guide assembly, inside the rack and pinion boot (22) and into threaded hole in rod and rack assembly.
^ Tighten inner tie rod bolts (37) to 90 Nm (65 ft. lbs.).
3. New lock plate (38) with notches in the proper position over flats of inner tie rod bolts (37).
