Theft Deterrent System Schematics: PASS-Key(R) III:
DTC B2955 Key Code Input Shorted to Battery:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Theft Deterrent (VTD) module monitors the key code input to determine if it is within a valid operating range.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The VTD module has set DTC B2955 current and has detected a short to battery in the key code input.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ Stores a DTC B2955 in the VTD module memory. No driver warning message will be displayed for this DTC.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ The VTD module no longer detects a short to battery for approximately 1 second or more.
^ The history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.
^ Use a scan tool in order to clear a history DTC.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Since the reader/exciter cannot be removed from the VTD module and DTC B2955 is an internal VTD module malfunction, the VTD module may be replaced. Refer to Diagnostic Table.
TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table:
1. Perform the Theft Deterrent Diagnostic System Check before continuing with the diagnosis of this DTC.
2. Clear all DTCs and cycle ignition to check that the DTC did not falsely set.
4. Clear all DTCs after the repair procedure is complete.
