Daytime Running Lamps

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) are standard on all vehicles.

The DRL provides automatic on/off control of the headlamps in response to the level of ambient light and the position of the following components:
^ The gear selector lever
^ The ignition switch
^ The head/park lamp switch

When the ignition switch is in the RUN position and the gear selector lever is moved out of the PARK position, the high beam headlamps illuminate at about 70 percent of the normal operating intensity. The high beam headlamps turn off if the gear selector lever is returned to the PARK position or the ignition switch is turned oft.

The headlamps and the exterior lamps turn on automatically at dusk. The headlamps turn off automatically and the high beam headlamps illuminate at a reduced intensity at dawn. You may turn the exterior lamps on at any time. Turning the headlamps on using the head/park lamp switch overrides the DRL system.

The DRL system consists of a light sensitive photocell and a lamp control module. The DRL system is in parallel with the regular head/park lamp switch. The head/park lamp switch must be off in order for the automatic DRL system to operate.
