Linear Shift - Disassemble

DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE





1. Remove the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off-Vehicle.
2. Remove the electrical Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) actuator. With a screwdriver carefully pry the electrical BTSI actuator away from the steering column.





3. Disconnect the park lock cable assembly. The lock cylinder should be in the off-lock position.
4. Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the lock module assembly and push against the locking tab to remove.





5. Remove 3 flat head 6-lobed socket tap screws from the linear shift assembly. Remove the linear shift assembly. Continue with the following steps if disassembling the linear shift assembly.





6. Remove the hexagon flanged head bolt.
7. Remove the ball and actuator assembly (2).
8. Remove the shift lever clevis (1).





9. Remove 2 oval head 6-lobed socket tap screws from the shift gate. Remove the park lock cable assembly.





10. Remove the hexagon flange head bolt.
11. Remove the cable shift cam assembly.
12. Remove the cam bushing from the cable shift cam assembly.





13. Remove 3 flat head 6-lobed socket tap screws.
14. Remove the gearshift lever assembly support bracket.
