Tilt Head Housing - Assemble

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor





1. Install the inner race (1).
2. Install the upper bearing inner race seat (2).
3. Install the upper bearing spring (3).
4. Lubricate the brass surface of the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4) with synthetic grease.
5. Install the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4).
6. Install the shaft lock assembly onto the steering shaft assembly.





7. Compress the shaft lock shield assembly (2) using J 23653-SIR.
8. Install the new bearing retainer (1) onto the steering shaft. Bearing retainer must be firmly seated in the groove on the race and upper shaft assembly.
9. Remove J 23653-SIR.
10. Install the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) coil assembly. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Assemble - Off-Vehicle.
