Shift Lever

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
2. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
3. Remove the steering column shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off-Vehicle.
4. Remove the left closeout/insulator panel (if equipped with traction control). Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
5. Disconnect electrical connector from traction control harness if equipped and feed harness out of column. Observe the harness routing and location to assist in reassembly.
6. Remove the TORX(R) head fastener from the shift lever to shift control.
7. Pull the shift lever upward to remove it from the shift control.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Push the shift lever downward to engage it into the shift control.
2. Install the TORX(R) head fastener.
3. Feed the traction control harness (if equipped) back through the column. Use care to route the harness as previously observed.
4. Install the steering column shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off-Vehicle.
5. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
6. Install the left closeout/insulator panel (if equipped with traction control). Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
7. Enable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
