Front Side Door Remains Locked When Attempting to Unlock with Key and/or Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter (RKE) (Replace Front Side Door O/S Handle Assembly)

Models:
1999 Buick Park Avenue, Ultra Built Prior to VIN Breakpoint 648726

Condition

Some customers may comment that they can not open the front side door from inside or outside of the vehicle with either the key or the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter (RKE).

Cause

This condition may be due to the side door outside handle bellcrank not returning to its normal position after being actuated to open the door.

Correction

Replace the existing side door outside handle assembly. Refer to the Doors sub-section in Body & Accessories of the Service Manual for replacement procedures. Improved side door outside handle assemblies are now available from GMSPO.
