Removal and Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
NOTE: Refer to Door Sealing Notice in Cautions and Notices.
1. Remove the door trim panel.
2. Remove the two fasteners securing the door trim hanger bracket (Oldsmobile front doors only).
3. Remove the door trim bracket (1) on Oldsmobile front doors only.
4. Remove the two retainers (2) securing the top of the water deflector (3).
IMPORTANT: Note the electrical wiring harness routing for re-installation.
5. Carefully guide the electrical wiring through the slits in the water deflector.
6. Remove the water deflector (3) by peeling the water deflector off the door (4).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Proper sealing is necessary in order to prevent water entry into the door and possible damage to inner door components.
1. Install the water deflector (3) over the inside handle.
2. Align the water deflector with the top of the inner door panel.
Apply pressure in order to hold the deflector in position.
3. Install the two upper water deflector retainers (2).
4. Push in the retainers in order to secure.
5. Carefully guide the electrical wiring harness through the slits in the water deflector.
6. Install the extruded pockets as required.
7. Remove any wrinkles.
8. Secure the bottom center of the deflector by working forward and in an upward direction.
9. Work the seal rearward and up from the bottom center.
10. Install the door trim hanger bracket (1) (Oldsmobile front doors only).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
11. Install the front door trim hanger bracket fasteners first, (Oldsmobile).
Tighten
Tighten the front door trim hanger bracket fastener first to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the rearward fastener last to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
12. Install the door trim panel.
