Shift Interlock: Service and Repair
Removal ProcedureCaution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the lever handle assembly from the shifter.
3. Disassemble the console, as needed, in order to access the shift control assembly. Refer to Console Replacement in Console Assembly in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
4. Remove the park lock cable from the shift control assembly.
5. Remove the shift control cable from the shift control assembly.
6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
7. Remove the shift control assembly.
8. Remove the shift interlock solenoid assembly from the control assembly.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the shift interlock solenoid assembly.
2. Install the shift control assembly-to-floor console bracket.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
^ Tighten the mounting nuts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect the electrical connectors.
4. Install the shift control cable.
5. Install the park lock cable.
6. Assemble the console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
7. Install the lever handle assembly.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
