B3100
B3100 KEYLESS ENTRY DATA LINK CIRCUIT MALFUNCTIONDiagnostic Chart:
Schematic:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Body Control Module (BCM) is connected to the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver by a communication circuit. This data link circuit is how the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver tells the BCM to operate certain functions. The BCM also utilizes this communication circuit to reprogram transmitters.
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
The Remote Control Door Lock Receiver must have sent a second Programming Mode/Diagnostic Mode acknowledgment to the BCM. This condition can only happen when transmitter programming occurs.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The BCM does not receive an acknowledgment message after 0.3 seconds from the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver after requesting a Programming Mode/Diagnostic Mode request.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
The BCM stores DTC B3100 in memory.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ A current DTC B3100 will clear if the short to battery or open in the communication circuit is no longer detected by the BCM.
^ A history DTC B3100 will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present.
^ A scan tool may be used to clear the DTC.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
If the DTC B3100 is a history DTC, the fault may be intermittent. Refer to Testing for Intermittent and Poor Connections in Diagrams.
TEST DESCRIPTION
The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.
3. This step checks for a short to voltage.
