Accelerator Controls Cable Bracket Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield.




2. Rotate the throttle lever.
3. Disconnect the cruise control cable (1) from the accelerator controls bracket (2).




4. Disconnect the accelerator cable (2) from the accelerator controls bracket (1).




5. Remove the wiring harness clip (1) from accelerator controls bracket (3).
6. Remove the transaxle shift cable from the accelerator controls cable bracket.




7. Remove the two bolts from the accelerator controls bracket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE:
^ Do not route flexible components (hoses, wires, conduits, etc.) within 50 mm (2 in) of moving parts unless flexible components can be securely fastened. This is necessary in order to prevent possible interference and damage to the component.
^ Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




1. Install the 2 brackets bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 16 Nm (12 lb in).




2. Install wiring harness clip (1) from accelerator controls bracket (3).
3. Install the transaxle shift cable to the accelerator controls cable bracket.




4. Install the accelerator cable (2) to the accelerator controls bracket (1).




5. Install the cruise control cable (1) to the accelerator controls bracket (2).

IMPORTANT: The throttle should operate freely, without binding, between full closed and wide open throttle.




6. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
7. Install the fuel injector sight shield.
