Accelerator Controls Cable Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the left IP accessory trim plate.
2. Remove the accelerator control cable (1) from the accelerator pedal (2) lever.
3. Squeeze the accelerator cable cover tangs and push the accelerator cable (1) through the bulkhead.
4. Remove the accelerator control cable (1) from the retaining clip (2).
5. Remove the accelerator cable (2) from the throttle body lever (3).
6. Remove the accelerator cable (1) from the accelerator control cable bracket (2).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Do not route flexible components (hoses, wires, conduits, etc.) within 50 mm (2 in) of moving parts unless flexible components can be securely fastened. This is necessary in order to prevent possible interference and damage to the component.
1. Install the accelerator control cable (1) through the bulkhead.
2. Install the snap retainer through the bulkhead.
3. Install the accelerator control cable (1) through the slot in the accelerator pedal lever (2).
IMPORTANT: The cable end fitting will snap into position and fit flush against the accelerator control pedal lever.
4. Assemble the dash panel insulator retainer to the accelerator control cable.
IMPORTANT: The retainer will fit flush to the dash mat.
5. From the passenger compartment, push the retainer over the cable lever end fitting and up the cable until the retainer snaps onto the flange of the cable dash fitting.
IMPORTANT: The throttle should operate freely, without binding, between full closed and wide open throttle.
6. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also check for proper carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
IMPORTANT: Assure that the cable is under the hook (1) in the throttle body lever.
7. Install the accelerator control cable (2) to the throttle body lever (3).
8. Install the accelerator control (1) cable to the accelerator cable bracket (2).
9. Install the accelerator control cable (2) to the retaining clip (1).
10. Install the left IP accessory trim plate.
