Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.

CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the right front wheel and tire assembly.
4. Remove the splash shield from the right inner fender.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the camshaft position sensor (1).




6. Remove the camshaft position (CMP) sensor bolt.
7. Remove the CMP sensor from the engine front cover.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Position the CMP sensor to the engine front cover.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the CMP sensor retaining bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm (88 lb in).




3. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the CMP sensor (1).
4. Reinstall the splash shield to the right inner fender.
5. Install the right front wheel and tire assembly.
