Accumulator: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure






1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the oil filter. Refer to Oil Filter and Seal Replacement.
3. Remove the accumulator attaching bolts.






4. Remove the 2-1 manual servo piston cover bolts.






5. Unclip the pipe from the transmission case.
6. Remove the accumulator assembly.






7. Remove the 2-1 manual servo piston assembly and the filter.
8. Remove the seal.
9. Disassemble and inspect the accumulator and the 2-1 manual servo assemblies for foreign debris and clean as necessary.

Installation Procedure






Important: The seal must be installed as shown. If it is not installed, or is installed in the wrong location, the transmission will operate only in reverse.

1. Install the 2-1 manual servo piston assembly seal.
2. Install the 2-1 manual servo piston assembly and the filter.






3. Install the accumulator assembly.






4. Install the 2-1 manual servo piston cover bolts.






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Install the accumulator assembly attaching bolts.

^ Tighten the accumulator bolts and the 2-1 manual servo bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).

6. Install the new oil filter seal and the oil filter. Refer to Oil Filter and Seal Replacement.
7. Install the oil pan gasket, the oil pan and the oil pan bolts. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Fill the transmission to the proper level. Refer to Fluid Capacity Specifications.
10. Inspect the oil pan gasket for leaks.
