CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Dash Integration Module (DIM) transmits vehicle VIN information and the last four digits of Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) part number (programmed into the DIM during vehicle assembly) to the SDM, when the ignition is turned ON. The SDM receives these messages and compares them to information stored in memory. The SDM sets this DTC when it receives a VIN over the class 2 communication circuit that is different from the VIN that is stored in the DIM memory. The only circuits required are the class 2 communications line, ignition voltage and ground.
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
This DTC is only run once during power up initialization.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
^ Ignition voltage is within the normal operating voltage range.
^ The SDM detects a mismatch between the serial data Vehicle ID received from the DIM and the Vehicle ID stored in the SDM memory.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ The SDM commands ON the AIR BAG warning lamp via Class 2 serial data.
^ The SDM disables all deployments.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
The serial data Vehicle ID must match the SDM Vehicle ID.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
This DTC is an indication that an incorrect SDM is installed in the vehicle.
TEST DESCRIPTION
The following numbers refer to the step numbers in the diagnostic table:
2. This test checks for current inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) DTCs.
