Automatic Day-Night Mirrors (DR9)

The automatic day-night mirrors are equipped with an Electrochromic (EC) film that darkens when a low voltage is applied. The EC function is controlled by the interior rear view mirror.

The interior rear view mirror contains the photo cells that detect the ambient light level and compares it to the light entering the vehicle from the rear. When the level from the rear exceeds the ambient level, the EC system darkens the interior mirror and sends a low voltage to the driver side outside rear view mirror.

The EC circuit passes through the DDM, but the DDM does not affect this circuit.
