Front Seat Back Frame Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the front seat assembly. Refer to Seat Replacement (Seat Replacement) .
2. Remove the head restraint. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement (Head Restraint Replacement - Front Seat) .




3. Remove the seat map pocket panel panel (3) by pushing up and pulling out.
4. Remove the seat side air abg. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Front Seat Side Impact Inflator Module Replacement.
5. Remove the seatback cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement (Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front) .

Important: Do not damage the wire or the connector when removing the electrical harness.


6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
7. Remove the 2 bolts (16) from the left side of the seatback frame (18).
8. Remove the shoulder belt retractor assembly. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front and Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front.
9. Remove the right side frame bolt (17).
10. Remove the seatback frame (18).



Installation Procedure





1. Install the seatback frame (18).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Apply Loctite(TM) 242 (GM P/N 12345382) to the seatback frame bolts. Install the 2 bolts (16) on the left side and one on the right side (17) of the seatback frame (18).

Tighten the seatback frame bolts to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

3. Connect the electrical connectors.
4. Install the shoulder belt retractor assembly. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front and Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front.
5. Install the seatback cove and pad. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement (Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front) .
6. Install the seat side air bag. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Front Seat Side Impact Inflator Module Replacement.
7. Install the head restraint. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement (Head Restraint Replacement - Front Seat) .
8. Install the seat map pocket panel panel.
9. Install the front seat assembly. Refer to Seat Replacement (Seat Replacement) .
