SIR Steering Wheel Module Coil - Assemble

Assembly Procedure





1. Align the block tooth on the steering shaft assembly (1) to the 12 o'clock position.
2. Place the key in the off position and remove the keys.

Important: A new SIR coil assembly will be pre-centered. Do not remove the centering tab from the new SIR coil assembly until the installation is complete.





3. Align the SIR coil assembly (4) with the horn TORX (R) on the turn signal cancel cam assembly (1).
4. If reusing the original SIR coil assembly. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering - Off Vehicle (Column Shift And Floor Shift).
5. Slide the new SIR coil assembly (4) onto the steering shaft assembly (2).
6. Firmly seat the retaining ring (3) into the groove on the steering shaft assembly (2).
7. Remove and discard the centering tab from the new SIR coil assembly (4).





8. Reconnect the SIR coil assembly connector to the turn signal switch assembly connector.
9. Attach new wire harness straps to the wire harness assembly (1) and the steering column.
10. Install the wire harness assembly (1) into the wire harness strap (2).
11. Install the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble -Off Vehicle (Column Shift) or Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Floor Shift ).
