Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair
CONDENSER REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly.
2. Remove the cross vehicle brace if equipped.
3. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. See Refrigerant, A/C - Service and Repair.
4. Remove the radiator.
5. Remove the liquid line nut from the condenser.
6. Position the liquid line aside from the condenser.
7. Remove the compressor line nut (1) from the condenser.
8. Position the compressor line aside from the condenser.
9. Remove the condenser.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the condenser.
IMPORTANT: Lubricate the new O-ring seals with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
2. Install the new O-ring seals onto the compressor hose and the liquid line.
3. Install the liquid line to the condenser.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the liquid line nut to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the liquid line nut to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
5. Install the compressor hose to the condenser.
6. Install the compressor hose nut (1).
Tighten
Tighten the compressor hose nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
7. Install the radiator.
8. Evacuate, charge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. See Refrigerant, A/C - Service and Repair.
9. Leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing. Testing and Inspection
10. Install the cross vehicle brace if equipped.
11. Install the air cleaner and duct assembly.
