Range Selector Cable Replacement (at Console Shift Control)

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Automatic Transaxle Range Selector Cable Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Remove the range selector cable for the automatic transaxle (A/T) from the wiring harness clips or retainers in the engine compartment.
2. Remove the front floor console.
3. Pull the carpet back to expose the A/T range selector cable.
4. Remove the A/T range selector cable from the retaining clips or the retainers in the passenger compartment.





5. Disengage the A/T range selector cable retainer to the console shift control.





6. Remove the A/T range selector cable retainer from the console shift control.





7. Remove the A/T range selector cable from the console shift control.





8. Remove the A/T range selector cable through the hole in the cowl.
9. Remove the A/T range selector from the PNP switch. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (A/T PNP Switch) or Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (A/T Console Shift Control) or Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (A/T Column Shift Control) or Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (New Cable Installation).

Installation Procedure

Caution: Refer to Automatic Transaxle Range Selector Cable Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Properly route and position the A/T range selector cable.





2. Install the A/T range selector cable through the hole in the cowl.
3. Install the A/T range selector cable to the PNP switch. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (A/T PNP Switch) or Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (A/T Console Shift Control) or Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (A/T Column Shift Control) or Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (New Cable Installation).





4. Install the A/T range selector cable through the console shift control bracket.




5. Install the A/T range selector cable to the console shift control.





6. Engage the A/T range selector cable retainer to the console shift control.
7. Install the A/T range selector cable to the retaining clips or the retainers in the passenger compartment.
8. Install the carpet into position.
9. Install the front floor console.





10. Install the A/T range selector cable to the wiring harness clips or the retainers in the engine compartment.
11. Adjust the A/T range selector cable. Refer to the following procedures:
^ Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (A/T PNP Switch) or Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (A/T Console Shift Control) or Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (A/T Column Shift Control) or Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Replacement (New Cable Installation)
