Cruise Control Module: Service and Repair

CRUISE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the fuel injector site shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L36) or Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (L67).
2. Push the lock release and remove the cruise control cable at the engine bracket and throttle body.




3. Disconnect the cruise control cable (1) and the connector (2) from the module assembly connector (3).
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the module assembly.




5. Remove the retaining nuts (2) and the module (1) from the mounting studs.




6. Remove the cruise control module bracket bolts (3) from the module bracket (2) and the module (1).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the cruise control module (1) to the bracket (2).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the module to the bracket bolts (3).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 7.5 N.m (66 lb in).




3. Install the cruise control module (1) onto the studs on the cowl.
4. Install the 2 nuts (2).

Tighten
Tighten the bracket retaining nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).




5. Connect the electrical connector to the module.

IMPORTANT: Do not twist the ribbon when connecting the cable to the module.

6. Install the cruise control cable (1) to the module assembly connector (3).




7. Install the cruise control cable housing connector to the engine bracket and throttle body.
8. Adjust the cruise control cable.
