Battery: Service and Repair
BATTERY REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Open the battery cable transition block cable protector covers.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the negative battery cable transition block.
3. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the positive battery cable transition block.
4. Remove the battery retainer nut and battery retainer.
5. Remove the battery.
6. Remove the negative transition block from the battery.
7. Remove the positive transition block from the battery.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the positive transition block to the positive battery terminal on the side of the battery.
Tighten
Tighten the transition block cable bolt to 14 N.m (124 lb in).
2. Install the negative transition block cable to the negative battery terminal on the side of the battery.
Tighten
Tighten the transition block cable bolt to 14 N.m (124 lb in).
3. Install the battery into the vehicle.
4. Install the battery retainer and nut.
Tighten
Tighten the battery retainer nut to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
5. Install the nut securing the positive battery cable to the positive battery transition block.
Tighten
Tighten the battery cable nut to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
6. Close the battery cable transition block cable protector covers.
7. Connect the battery negative cable to the negative battery cable transition block.
