Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle.
3. Disconnect electrical connector from traction control harness and feed harness out of column. Observe the harness routing and location to assist in reassembly.
4. Remove the shift lever retaining screw.
5. Pull the shift lever upward to remove it from the linear shift assembly.

Installation Procedure





1. Push the shift lever downward to engage it into the shift control.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the shift lever retaining screw to linear shift assembly.
- Tighten the shift lever retaining screw to 1.5 Nm (13 inch lbs.).
3. Feed the traction control harness (if equipped) back through the column. Use care to route the harness as previously observed.
4. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle.
5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
