Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the instrument panel trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Pad Replacement)
2. Remove the passenger side SIR inflator module. Refer toInflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
3. Remove the brake pedal reinforcement nuts.
4. Remove the air distribution ducts from the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement and Defroster Air Outlet Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.




5. Remove the bolts from the relay bracket and position the relay bracket aside.




6. Remove the bolts from the BCM bracket and position the BCM bracket aside.
7. Release the instrument panel wiring harness retaining clips and position the instrument panel wiring harness aside.




8. Remove the bolts from the HVAC center module support bracket.
9. Remove the HVAC module center support bracket.




10. Remove the bolts from the HVAC module upper support brackets.




11. Remove the LH cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar bolts.




12. Remove the RH cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar bolts.




13. Remove the cross vehicle beam from the vehicle.
14. Remove the defrost distribution ducts from the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Defroster Air Outlet Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the defrost distribution ducts to the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Defroster Air Outlet Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.




2. Install the cross vehicle beam to the vehicle.




3. Install the RH cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar bolts finger tight.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the LH cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar bolts finger tight.

Tighten the cross vehicle beam at hinge pillar bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).





5. Install the bolts to the HVAC module upper support brackets.

Tighten the upper HVAC support bracket bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).





6. Install the HVAC module center support bracket.
7. Install the bolts to the HVAC module center support bracket.

Tighten the center HVAC support bracket bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

8. Reposition the instrument panel wiring harness to the cross vehicle beam and install harness retaining clips.




9. Install the BCM bracket and the bolts.

Tighten the BCM bracket bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).





10. Install the relay bracket and the bolts.

Tighten the relay bracket bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

11. Install the air distribution ducts to the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.




12. Install the brake pedal reinforcement nuts.

Tighten the brake pedal reinforcement nuts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

13. Install the passenger side SIR inflator module. Refer toInflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
14. Install the instrument panel trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Pad Replacement)
