Rear Compartment Lid Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Open the rear compartment.
2. Place protective coverings over the adjacent body panels.
3. Use a grease pencil in order to mark the hinge to the rear compartment lid for the location at installation.




4. Remove the wiring harness. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Wiring Harness Replacement (Rear Compartment Lid Wiring Harness Replacement) .
5. Remove the compartment lid applique. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Applique Replacement () .
6. Remove the key lock cylinder. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Cylinder Replacement (Service and Repair) .
7. Remove the latch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
8. Remove the black rubber bumpers located above the hinge.




9. Use a grease pencil to mark the location of the upper rear compartment lid hinge to the rear compartment lid.
10. Remove the nuts from the rear compartment hinges, with an assistant.
11. Remove the rear compartment lid, with an assistant.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the black rubber height adjustment bumpers.




2. Position the new rear compartment lid to the hinges, with an assistant.
3. Position the hinge to the alignment marks on the rear compartment lid.
4. Install the nuts to the rear compartment hinges.
Do not torque the nuts until after the lid has been aligned.

Important: When installing new a compartment lid, use mechanics wire to pull the wire harness into position.


5. Pull the harness through the rear compartment lid.




6. Connect the electrical connectors to the electrical components on the rear compartment lid.
7. Install the latch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
8. Install the wiring harness. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Wiring Harness Replacement (Rear Compartment Lid Wiring Harness Replacement) .
9. Install the compartment lid applique. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Applique Replacement () .
10. Install the key lock cylinder. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Cylinder Replacement (Service and Repair) .
11. Remove the protective coverings.
12. Adjust the rear compartment lid if required. Using an Allen wrench, adjust the height adjustment bumper at front of the hinge.
13. Adjust the rear compartment lid if required, for uniform fit.




14. Adjust the rear compartment height by turning the black rubber overslam bumpers by hand.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

15. Tighten the nuts to the rear compartment hinges.

Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

16. Close the rear compartment.
