Evaporator Tube Replacement
TOOLS REQUIREDJ 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the left front fender upper diagonal brace.
3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
4. Remove the cross vehicle brace.
5. Remove the vacuum brake booster.
6. Remove the accumulator clip.
7. Disconnect the evaporator tube nut from the condenser tube.
8. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the condenser tube.
9. Remove the evaporator tube from the evaporator bolt.
IMPORTANT: Use care when removing the evaporator tube.
10. Disconnect the evaporator inlet tube from the evaporator.
11. Remove the O-ring and discard.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: The new O-ring seal must be coated with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
1. Install the new O-ring seals on to the evaporator tube.
2. Connect the evaporator inlet tube to the condenser tube.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Connect the evaporator tube to the evaporator.
Tighten
Tighten the evaporator tube to evaporator block fitting bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
4. Tighten the evaporator tube nut.
Tighten
Tighten the evaporator tube nut to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
5. Install the accumulator clip.
6. Install the vacuum brake booster.
7. Install the cross vehicle brace.
8. Install the air cleaner assembly.
9. Install the left front fender upper diagonal brace.
10. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
11. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
