Air Temperature Door Replacement - Left

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the HVAC module assembly.
2. Remove the screws retaining the left air temperature actuator.
3. Remove the left air temperature actuator.
4. Remove the air inlet housing retaining screws.
5. Remove the air inlet housing.
6. Remove the HVAC module assembly upper mounting screws.
7. Release the retaining tab (1) securing the HVAC module assembly halves.
8. Separate the upper and lower module halves.




9. Remove the HVAC module assembly seal that is located between the upper and lower cases (2).
10. Remove the left air temperature door.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the left air temperature door.
2. Install the new case seal (2) to the HVAC module assembly case (1).
3. Wet the upper evaporator core seal with water.

IMPORTANT: Inspect the condition of the retaining tab on the upper module case prior to installing the lower module case. If the retaining tab is broken or damaged, install an external retaining clip (P/N 52458793, or equivalent).




4. Align and install the upper module case to the lower module case.
Align and secure the retaining tab (1).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Install the HVAC module assembly upper mounting screws.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).

6. Install the air inlet housing.
7. Install the air inlet housing retaining screws.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).




8. Position the left air temperature actuator, then align the slots in the electric actuator drive to the flats of the shaft.
9. Align the locating hole to the alignment pinion the HVAC module case.
10. Slide the actuator drive on the shaft. The actuator drive should set completely on the shaft and the mounting holes should be flush with the mounting screws on the HVAC module case.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

11. Install the screws to the left air temperature actuator.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in).

12. Install the HVAC module assembly.
