Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement
TOOLS REQUIREDJ 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the A/C evaporator hose nut from the accumulator.
4. Remove the A/C evaporator hose from the accumulator.
5. Remove the right headlamp to access the evaporator hose nut at the condenser.
6. Remove the NO evaporator hose nut from the condenser.
7. Remove the A/C evaporator hose from the condenser.
8. Disconnect the evaporator hose from the accumulator cover.
9. Disconnect the evaporator line nut from the evaporator.
10. Disconnect the A/C evaporator hose from the evaporator.
11. Pry up to remove the A/C line clip from the rail.
12. Route the accumulator and condenser ends of the hose assembly under the coolant overflow hose.
13. Remove the A/C evaporator hose from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Position the A/C evaporator hose in the vehicle.
2. Install the A/C evaporator hose clip into the rail.
IMPORTANT: Inspect the seal washers for damage before reinstalling the A/C lines and hoses.
If any damage is noted during inspection, the suspect seal must be replaced.
Flat washer type seals do not require lubrication.
3. Install the A/C evaporator hose to the evaporator.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the evaporator line nut.
Tighten
Tighten the A/C evaporator hose connection to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
5. Install the evaporator hose to the accumulator.
6. Install the evaporator hose nut.
Tighten
Tighten the connection to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
7. Install the A/C evaporator hose to the condenser.
8. Install the evaporator hose nut.
Tighten
Tighten the connection to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
9. Install the right headlamp.
10. Clip the evaporator hose into the accumulator cover.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.
12. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
13. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A.
