Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Steering Shaft Upper Bearing Spring Replacement - On VehicleTools Required
^ J23653-SIR Steering Column Lock Plate
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil.
3. Install J23653-SM to the upper steering shaft.
4. Using J23653-SIR depress the lock plate and remove the retaining clip.
5. Remove J23653-SIR from the upper steering shaft.
6. Remove the shaft lock shield assembly (1).
7. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly (2).
8. Remove the upper bearing spring (3).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the upper bearing spring (3).
2. Install the turn signal cancel cam assembly (2).
3. Install the shaft lock shield assembly (1).
4. Install a new bearing retainer.
5. Using J23653-SM depress the shaft lock shield assembly.
6. Push the bearing retainer into place.
7. Remove the J23653-SIR from the steering shaft.
8. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil.
9. Enable the SIR system.
Multifunction, Turn Signal and Hazard Switch Replacement On Vehicle
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove the steering column trim cover.
3. Remove the multifunction switch retaining screws.
4. Disconnect the Multifunction switch electrical connections.
5. Remove the multifunction switch.
Installation Procedures
1. Install the multifunction switch to the steering column.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the multifunction switch retaining screws.
Tighten the multifunction switch retaining screws to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.).
3. Route the electrical harness and connect electrical connections.
4. Install the steering column trim covers.
5. Enable the SIR system.
