Condition
Some customers may comment on the following:
^ The vehicle is parked and locked and sits for a minimum of 3.5 minutes. Current draw on the battery is approximately 20 milliamperes.
^ The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) trunk unlock button is depressed and the trunk is opened and closed again within 10 seconds.
^ The door panel backlighting for the power door locks, power windows, 0/S mirror control, passenger temperature control, memory and heated seat switches remains on. Current draw on the battery is now approximately 720 milliamperes.
^ The backlighting remains on until the RKE door lock or unlock button is activated.
Cause
This high parasitic current draw on the battery may be due to a unique software issue within the Instrument Panel Module (1PM), also referred to as the HTR & A/C Programmer Assembly.
Correction
Modifications have been made to the 1PM software.
1. Replace the 1PM, described as the HTR & NC Programmer Assembly in Parts Information. Refer to the Body Control System sub-section in the Service Manual for replacement procedures. Refer to the following chart for replacement procedures within SI2000.
