Side Impact Module Replacement - LH

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling And Storage Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.

CAUTION: Following the deployment of a side impact air bag, replace the following parts:
^ The seat back trim
^ The seat back pad
^ The seat back frame


Failure to do so may cause future personal injury.
2. If the air bag has been deployed, replace the seat back trim, the seat back pad, and the seat back frame.
3. Remove the seat back cover, as needed. The head restraint does not need to be removed.
4. Remove the fasteners (2) from the inflator module (1).
5. Note the routing of the inflator module wiring harness (4) and of the retaining clip attachments within the driver seat.
6. Remove the retaining clips on the inflator module wiring harness from the driver seat frame.
7. Gently pull the inflator module wiring harness (4) up into the seat back while guiding the harness through the wire triangle of the seat frame.
8. Remove the inflator module (1) from the driver seat back frame.
9. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the inflator module (1) to the driver seat back frame.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the inflator module fasteners (2).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners (2) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Gently pull the inflator module wiring harness (4) down into the seat cushion while guiding the harness through the wire triangle of the seat frame.
4. Install the wiring harness retaining clips to the seat frame.
5. Install the seat back cover.
6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
