Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer toSIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
2. Remove the right side sound insulator. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right) .
3. Remove the right side I/P end cap. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right (Instrument Panel (IP) - Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right) .
4. Remove the I/P cluster. Refer toInstrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement.
5. Remove the retaining screws from the data link.
6. Remove the I/P lower trim panel. Refer toInstrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Lower (Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Panel Replacement - Lower) .
7. Remove the retaining screws fastening the right side vent duct.
8. Remove the retaining screws fastening the left side vent duct.
9. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the temperature sensors.
10. Remove the right vent duct.
11. Remove the left vent duct.
12. Remove the radio. Refer toRadio Replacement in Entertainment.
13. Remove the heater and A/C control assembly. Refer toHVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC.
14. Remove the right side vent duct fastener.
15. Remove the right side vent duct.
16. Remove the speaker. Refer toSpeaker Replacement - Front in Entertainment.
17. Remove the right and left windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer toGarnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) in Interior Trim.




18. Remove the fasteners securing the I/P trim pad.
19. Pull the I/P trim pad rearward slightly.
20. Remove the I/P trim pad.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the I/P trim pad partway.
2. Align the I/P trim pad with the carrier.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the fasteners securing the I/P trim pad.

Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

4. Install the left and right windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer toGarnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) in Interior Trim.
5. Install the speaker. Refer toSpeaker Replacement - Front in Entertainment.
6. Install the right side vent duct.
7. Install the right side vent duct fastener.
8. Install the heater and A/C control assembly. Refer toHVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC.
9. Install the radio. Refer toRadio Replacement in Entertainment.
10. Install the left vent duct.
11. Install the right vent duct.
12. Install the retainers fastening the left vent duct.
13. Install the retainers fastening the right vent duct
14. Install the I/P lower trim panel. Refer toInstrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Lower (Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Panel Replacement - Lower) .
15. Install the retainers fastening the data link.
16. Install the I/P cluster. Refer toInstrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement.
17. Install the right side I/P end cap. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right (Instrument Panel (IP) - Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right) .
18. Install the right sound insulator. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right) .
19. Enable the SIR system. Refer toSIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
