Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement

COMPRESSOR HOSE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the evaporator A/C compressor hose clip.




3. Remove the A/C compressor hose to accumulator nut.
4. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the accumulator.




5. Disconnect the A/C hose retaining clip (1) at the frame rail.
6. Remove the A/C compressor hose bolt.




7. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the condenser.




8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C pressure sensor.
9. Remove the A/C compressor hose to A/C compressor nut.
10. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the A/C compressor hose to the vehicle.
2. Connect the A/C hose to the compressor.
3. Install the A/C hose to compressor nut.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

4. Connect the electrical connector to the A/C pressure switch.
5. Install the A/C compressor hose to the condenser.




6. Install the A/C compressor hose bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

7. Install the A/C compressor hose into the clip on the frame rail and fasten the clip.

IMPORTANT: If the clip was damaged during removal, install a new clip.

8. Install the A/C compressor hose to the accumulator.




9. Install the A/C compressor hose to accumulator nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).




10. Install the upper A/C compressor hose clip.
11. Recharge the A/C system.
12. Leak test the component fittings using the J 39400-A.
