DIC WARNING MESSAGES

CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON
The DIC illuminates the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message when the powertrain control module (PCM) determines that the engine oil should be changed. The DIC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the remaining oil life percent. Once the oil is changed, perform the engine oil monitor reset procedure in order to clear the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON indicator. Refer to GM Oil Life System - Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.

ENGINE OIL LOW CHECK LEVEL
The IPC illuminates the ENGINE OIL LOW CHECK LEVEL message in the driver information center (DIC) when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects low engine oil level, and the signal circuit is high. The PCM only monitors the oil level switch signal circuit for a brief period between key on and ignition crank. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM requesting illumination.

KM/H AND MPH
KM/H: The IPC illuminates the km/h indicator when the IPC detects that metric units have been requested. The IPC monitors the signal circuit of the ENG/MET switch. The IPC sends a signal to the head up display (HUD) indicating the requested units. The HUD also illuminates the appropriate indicator.

MPH: The IPC illuminates the MPH indicator when the IPC detects that English units have been requested. The IPC monitors the signal circuit of the ENG/MET switch. The IPC sends a signal to the head up display (HUD) indicating the requested units. The HUD also illuminates the appropriate indicator.

LOW FUEL
The IPC illuminates the low fuel indicator when the IPC determines that the sensor level is less than 16 percent.

LOW OIL PRESSURE
The IPC illuminates the engine oil pressure indicator when the PCM detects low oil pressure, and the signal circuit is low. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM requesting illumination.

SERVICE VEHICLE SOON
The IPC illuminates the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects certain malfunctions that are unrelated to the emission system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM requesting illumination.
