Radiator Replacement

^ Tools Required
- J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Remove the battery.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connector.
4. Remove the LH and RH engine mount strut braces.
5. Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly.
6. Remove the radiator inlet hose from the radiator.





7. Remove the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness from the fan shroud clip.





8. Remove the cooling fan shroud bolts.
9. Raise and support the vehicle.
10. Remove the push pin retainer from the lower left side of the fan shroud.
11. Remove the transmission oil cooler lines from the retainer clip at the bottom of the cooling fan shroud.
12. Remove the lower air deflector.
13. Use J 38185 to remove the outlet hose clamp from the radiator.





14. Remove the outlet hose from the radiator.
15. Lower the vehicle.
16. Remove the cooling fan shroud clip from the top of the radiator.





17. Remove the radiator upper support brackets that connect to the fan shroud.
18. Remove the fan motor heat shield.
19. Remove the cooling fan shroud.
20. Disconnect the transaxle oil cooler pipes from the radiator.
21. Remove the coolant reservoir hose from the radiator overflow neck.
22. Remove the radiator.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the radiator to the lower mounts.
2. Install the coolant reservoir hose to the radiator overflow neck.
3. Install the transaxle oil cooler pipes to the radiator.





4. Install the outlet hose to the radiator.
5. Use J 38185 to install the outlet hose clamp to the radiator.
6. Install the lower air deflector.





7. Install the cooling fan shroud.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions

8. Install the cooling fan shroud bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
9. Install the cooling fan shroud clip to the top of the radiator and fan shroud. Apply pressure in order to completely engage the clip onto the radiator and fan shroud.
10. Raise and support the vehicle.
11. Install the push pin retainer to the lower left side of the fan shroud.
12. Install the transmission oil cooler lines on to the retainer at the bottom of the cooling fan shroud.
13. Lower the vehicle.
14. Install the fan motor heat shields.





15. Install the radiator upper support brackets and bolts that hold the fan shroud.
Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
16. Connect the cooling fan electrical connector.
17. Install the radiator inlet hose to the radiator.
18. Install the air cleaner and duct assembly.




19. Install the PCM harness on to the fan shroud clip.
20. Install the LH and RH engine mount strut braces.
21. Install the battery.
22. Fill the cooling system.

Notice: Do NOT overfill the transaxle. The overfilling of the transaxle causes foaming, loss of fluid, shift complaints, and possible damage to the transaxle.

23. Adjust the transaxle fluid level.
