Ignition Switch
IGNITION SWITCH REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in Restraint Systems. Service and Repair
CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Remove the trim covers from the steering column.
3. Disconnect the steering column electrical connectors.
4. Remove the steering column wiring harness tie straps (3).
5. Remove the wire harness (1) from the steering column and from the wire harness strap (2).
6. Remove and dispose of the small wire harness straps from the wire harness assembly (1).
7. Disconnect the multifunction switch electrical connectors (2) from the bulkhead connector (1).
8. Remove the key alarm connector (1) from the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (2) using the following procedure:
8.1. Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees.
8.2. Pull the key alarm connector (1) out of the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (2).
8.3. Remove the PASS-Key connector from the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (2).
9. Slide the ignition switch assembly (3) out of the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (1).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Slide the ignition switch assembly (3) into the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (1).
2. Install the key alarm connector (1) into the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (2).
2.1. Push the key alarm connector (1) into the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (2).
2.2. Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees so that the key alarm connector (1) locks into place.
2.3. Install the PASS-Key connector into the ignition lock cylinder case assembly (2).
3. Connect the multifunction switch electrical connectors to the bulkhead connector (1).
4. Install the wire harness assembly (1) to the wire harness strap (2).
5. Attach new wire harness straps (3) to the wire harness assembly (4).
6. Connect the steering column electrical connectors to the vehicle.
7. Install the trim covers to the column.
8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in Restraint Systems.
