Rear Door: Service and Repair



Door Replacement - Rear


Tools Required
* J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover
* J 39346-A Mini-Wedge Door Striker Aligner



Removal Procedure

1. Remove the inside door handle bezel. Refer to Handle Bezel Replacement - Inside ([1][2]Bezel Replacement) .
2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door Service and Repair
3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Door Frame (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the window inner belt sealing strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Window Belt Inner (Service and Repair) .
6. Remove the window outer belt sealing strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Window Belt Outer (Rear Door Window Belt Outer Sealing Strip Replacement) .
7. Remove the front window run channel. Refer to Window Channel Replacement - Rear Door Front (Service and Repair) .
8. Remove the door window. Refer to Window Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
9. Remove the door latch. Refer to Latch Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
10. Remove the power window module. Refer to Module Replacement - Rear Power Window (Rear Side Door Window Module Replacement) .
11. Remove the window weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Window (Service and Repair) .
12. Remove the stationary window. Refer to Window Replacement - Rear Door Stationary (Service and Repair) .
13. Remove the door frame applique. Refer to Door Frame Applique Replacement - Rear () .
14. Remove the door bottom auxiliary sealing strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Bottom Auxiliary (Rear Side Door Bottom Auxiliary Sealing Strip Replacement) .
15. Remove the outside door handle. Refer to Door Handle Replacement - Rear Outside (Service and Repair) .
16. Remove the door weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
17. Remove the upper auxiliary weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Upper Auxiliary (Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Upper Auxiliary) .




18. Remove the center pillar garnish molding in order to access the door wire harness connectors. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar) in Interior Trim.
19. Disconnect the door wire harness from the body wire harness.
20. Depress the tabs on the door wire harness connector in order to release the connector from the center pillar.
21. Disconnect the wiring harness retainers from the inner door panel.
22. Pull the rubber conduit and the wiring harness out through the opening at the front of the door.




23. Remove the door check link fastener (1) from the pillar.
24. Support the door.
25. Remove the hinge to door nuts.
26. Remove the door, with an assistant.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the hinge studplates into the door.
2. Align the door to the hinges, with the aid of an assistant.
3. Support the door.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the door to hinge nuts.

Tighten the door to hinge nuts to 34 N.m (24 lb ft).

5. Install the door check link. Refer to Door Check Link Replacement (Service and Repair) .




6. Install the door wiring harness into the door.
7. Install the door wiring harness retainers to the inner door panel.
8. Connect the door wire harness to the body wire harness.
9. Install the center pillar garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar) in Interior Trim.
10. Install the upper auxiliary weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Upper Auxiliary (Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Upper Auxiliary) .
11. Install the door weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
12. Install the door bottom auxiliary sealing strip. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Bottom Auxiliary (Rear Side Door Bottom Auxiliary Sealing Strip Replacement) .
13. Install the door frame applique. Refer to Door Frame Applique Replacement - Rear () .
14. Install the stationary window. Refer to Window Replacement - Rear Door Stationary (Service and Repair) .
15. Install the outside door handle. Refer to Door Handle Replacement - Rear Outside (Service and Repair) .
16. Install the window weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Rear Door Window (Service and Repair) .
17. Install the power window module. Refer to Module Replacement - Rear Power Window (Rear Side Door Window Module Replacement) .
18. Install the door latch. Refer to Latch Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
19. Install the window. Refer to Window Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
20. Install the front window run channel. Refer to Window Channel Replacement - Rear Door Front (Service and Repair) .
21. Install the outer belt molding. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Window Belt Outer (Rear Door Window Belt Outer Sealing Strip Replacement) .
22. Install the window inner belt molding. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Rear Door Window Belt Inner (Service and Repair) .
23. Install the garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Rear Door Frame (Service and Repair) .
24. Check the door window for proper adjustment. Refer to Window Adjustment - Rear Door (Adjustments) .
25. Check the door for proper adjustment. Refer to Door Adjustment (Adjustments) .
26. Touch up any paint damage to the intermediate rear door hinge and nuts with body color paint.
27. Check the window and door lock operation.
28. Install the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Rear Door (Service and Repair) .
29. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door Service and Repair
